AVTECH: Southwest renewal warrants the relief rally - Redeye

AVTECH today announced a two-year extension with SouthWest worth SEK26m-36m depending on the USD/SEK exchange rate over the period.

The pricing implies SEK0.5m in incremental sales at the mid-point, owing to the additional Aventus Abeam-waypoint feature. Management believes the Abeam-waypoint service is unique to AVTECH.

Co-developed with SouthWest, it deepens the integration and raises switching costs. The flat mid-point incremental sales masks a 9% USD decline since the last agreement — the renewal represents growth in constant currency.

The renewal is positive on two fronts: it demonstrates Aventus holds value even as airlines face surging fuel costs, and it restores confidence in the product following LATAM's re-evaluation. As a bellwether carrier, SouthWest's renewal signals confidence in Aventus that smaller airlines are unlikely to ignore.

AVTECH traded near Redeye's bear case ahead of the release, making the 17% relief rally at publication warranted — the renewal materially reduces both customer loss risk and Aventus spillover.

ClearPath has the potential to double SouthWest-related revenue. Per management, AVTECH produced positive data, yet SouthWest chose not to expand — likely reflecting near-term uncertainty rather than product doubt.

Redeye maintains its forecast but believes the added momentum will help the share close in on its Base Case of SEK9.0.
