The decision is justified by the fact that the deal would entail a large debt burden, Bloomberg reports.
The deal, which according to earlier reports concerns Lockheed Martin's F16 aircraft, was decided by a previous government. Among the competitors for that aircraft are Swedish Saab Gripen.
Saab says in a comment to Dagens industri, Di, that the company is following the process and continues to present its Gripen offer as a cost-effective alternative.
